The Sunscreen Roll-On, Hyaluronic Acid Serum and Hydration Pack Former Bachelorette Ali Fedotowsky Swears By

From festivals to farmers’ markets, mom-of-two Ali Fedotowsky has a long list of things she’s ready to check off the list this summer. First up for the former Bachelorette star: Getting out the good word on smart sun protection via her partnership with Banana Boat’s Sundays Are Fundays, a program that encourages families to spend quality time outside together—specifically on Sundays (no “scaries” here).

You’ve talked about skin health and the importance of sun protection before. Why did you decide to partner with Banana Boat?

“Oh my gosh, multiple reasons. First and foremost, I’m a huge proponent of wearing sunscreen. I had a super treatable, highly common form of skin cancer a few years ago. Thankfully, it was as easy as removing it and it was gone—but the whole experience just made me so much more aware of protecting my skin and wearing sunscreen.

Then, when Banana Boat told me about this product—let’s just say their roll-ons are a game-changer for moms putting sunscreen on the kids. Just amazing. When they told me they had this ‘Sun days are fun days’ campaign—the statistic is that 75 percent of the time you spend with your child is before the age of 12, which means all the time after that is only 25 percent—it just showed me how much you really have to get out there and enjoy it all.

We’re teaming up to not only spread awareness about the importance of wearing sunscreen, but also encouraging parents to share ideas on Pinterest and on Instagram for ways to have fun, get outside, and enjoy the sun, safely. At the end of the day, wear sunscreen.”

I take it you weren’t always so diligent about applying SPF?

“I got better when I became a parent; I am superfocused on putting sunscreen on my kids, and then I started looking for easier ways to put sunscreen on my kids.

When I got diagnosed with the basal cell carcinoma—again, I don’t want to up play it as being this horrible thing because it’s a very highly treatable common form of skin cancer—but, when I got it, I immediately was like, ‘Whoa, I need to be thinking about my sunscreen more.’ I’m a child of the ’90s; I was putting baby oil on myself and sitting in the sun for hours and going to tanning beds and all of that when I was younger so, for me, it’s a bit of a 180.”

You love to share your favorite things on social media. What skin-care and wellness products are you really into right now?

“Yes! I love DIME beauty. I love their hyaluronic acid serum. I love their vitamin C serum. I love any serums! I used to struggle with really bad hormonal acne and, ever since I started using serums—and I’m not even talking acne serums, I’m talking all serums—my skin has cleared up completely. It’s completely changed.

For wellness, I’m going to give my own business called 1to3 Life that I just started a little plug here: It’s a clean hydration packet with less sugar and less sodium than what’s currently out there. You put it in your water bottle, and it keeps you hydrated and gives your body better hydration. It’s my go-to. You can stick it in your purse, stick your Banana Boat roll-on in your purse, you’re good to go. You’re sun-protected, you’re hydrated, you are ready to go and have some fun this summer.”

The essentials. What are you excited for this summer?

“This is going to be my first summer where my daughter has an actual summer break. It’s her first year of kindergarten, so I’m looking forward to having that time with her. Because I’m a California girl who recently moved to Nashville, I’m very much looking forward to pool days and being outside in the warm weather—all the good things! I’m excited for festivals, too! During the past two years, we haven’t had any festivals because of COVID, so being able to go to farmers’ market and food festivals and things like that are all very exciting.”
